Oxfam International is a confederation of 14 organisations working with over 3,000 partners in around 100 countries to find lasting solutions to poverty and injustice. The Oxfam International Secretariat leads, facilitates, and supports collaboration between the Oxfam affiliates to increase Oxfam International's impact on poverty and injustice through advocacy campaigns, development programmes and emergency response. Oxfam was originally founded in Oxford in 1942 as the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief by a group of Quakers (which included Marcus Tite), social activists, and Oxford academics; this is now Oxfam Great Britain, still based in Oxford, UK. It was one of several local committees formed in support of the National Famine Relief Committee. Their mission was to persuade the British government to allow food relief through the Allied blockade for the starving citizens of Axis-occupied Greece. The first overseas Oxfam was founded in Canada in 1963. The committee changed its name to its telegraph address, OXFAM, in 1965. From Wikipedia under the

Asked by P.Gill - Wed Nov 1 21:50:30 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. My best guess is that they don't bother to filter the villiage's water as much as they filter yours. It's an African villiage, and they want to make a profit, so the quality can easlly decrease with no one demanding better flavor, color, or safety. Additionally, I wouldn't be surprised if the villages used less water, since they most likely do not feel the need to bath as often as the typical Suburbian, and would not use a shower in any case. They do not have washing machines or dish washers, either. That might play a part. Besides, they can get away with it, so why not? Big companies do that a lot.
